Life is full of surprises , but here pleasure has been enhanced & alas, till now no inconvenience is received .

I was just waiting for the DEE GR { 12216 } ,  i got an sheer luck , to meet this beauty coming form Marshaling  yard .

The name says all - Krishna-Veni .

It was a sheer luck for Rail-fans at Vadodara , for us rail-lovers today our night ended with maelstrom . In morning ,  as Panto of one loco failed near Palej ( 45 Kms form Vadodara towards Surat Section ) . All trains coming from Surat were tremendously delayed , because it has also damaged the Over-head wires .

We reached at station 10-00 AM, several  announcement  were on air , informing the list of delayed trains . We were known to this fact , that once repair work is done , it will chockablock at every platform with heavily delayed trains .

Following the avidity ,  our first demand was Pune Durunto { 12298 } , but at platform no.-6 we saw a BRC WAP-4E sauntering . Our Guess was Puri-Ahmedbad express { 18405 } .

& Yes it Puri express ....

Just Puri express has ceased his motion , our sixth sense got activated & signaled that some Rajdhani , Shatabdi or Duronto is coming ....

Chill Guys , just kidding . It was not our sixth sense , but it was the roaring sound of Generator car , Stressing out the funda of Doppler effect form my empty brain . We were totally dumb until we have got a glimpse of WCAM-2P # 21872 .



Ex -Valsad & now with Kalyan Family WCAM-2 # 21872 with Pune - ADI Durunto { 12298 } was the main culprit was this delay

All of Sudden , we saw that the rear panto of this loco was tied up with a rope . So we got the idea that some thing went this loco only .There were 4 to 6 persons in the Cab .

Believe me folks , after getting a double yellow signal , this train went with such a speed , that in my three years career in Vadodara . i haven't seen such speed in this platform no.-2 of Vadodara railway Station .

After Departure of this Train Mumbai - Indore Duranto Came on Platform no - 4 .



  Today , it was not a lucky day , it was  lucky night too , the most prestigious train of Western railway - Mumbai - New Delhi Rajdhani { 12951 }  was got in a off link . Regular link was GZB WAP-5 or WAP-7 , But , today everyone witnessed this train  with BRC WAP-4 E # 22057 fit ror 130 Km/hr . Perhaps , we can say this a harbinger of change - from GZB Loco's to BRC locos's .

In next couple of years, We can see BRC Locos with this train .

The Silver Strip Like structure shows that this Loco class has been converted from his previous class WAP-1 , So the very first question strikes in  my mind is .

Is this a transferred loco - yes Boss , Its transferred from GZB to BRC .
Although  , WAP-4 wields enomorous power in this party too .

A Night View of Vadodara Railway Station 


Here is History of Vadodara in Indian Railway

  • Bombay Baroda &Central Indian Railway ( BB&CI)   incorporated, and begins work on a Surat-Baroda line.
  • 1862
  • Feb. 8: Jamalpur Loco Works established.
  • Khanderao, the Gaekwar of Baroda, opens 8 miles of an NG railway line from Dabhoi towards Miyagam. Oxen were used as the motive power!
  • 1863
  • BB&CI Railway completes Surat-Baroda-Ahmedabad line.

  • 1869
  • Governor-General Lord Lawrence suggests that the Government of India itself undertake all future construction of railway lines. But GIPR's guarantees and leases are extended, and also those of the Bombay, Baroda, and Madras Railway Companies. Still, this year marks a turning point in government policy away from the guarantee system.

                             Relation of  Gaekwar  dynasty & Vadodara Railway Station 


Gaekwar's Baroda State Railway (GBSR) was a narrow gauge and metre gauge railway line owned by the Princely State of Baroda, which was ruled by the Gaekwar dynasty.
The first rail tracks were laid during the reign of Sir Khanderao Gaekwad (1828–1870), the Maharaja of Baroda. In 1862, he inaugurated 8 miles (13 km) of an NG railway line fromDabhoi to Miyagam. Oxen were used to haul the train, although in 1863, Nielson & Co. built a locomotive to be operated on the line from Debhoi to Miyagram, as the 6.5 km/m rails were not suited for the regular use of an engine.
The railway track has the distinction of being the first narrow-gauge line to be laid in British India, as well as being the first railway to be owned by any Princely State of India.
Later, during the rule of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the railway's network was further expanded. In 1873, the Dabhoi-Miyagam line (the first 2'6" line) was re-laid with stronger rails to allow locomotives to be used, rather than oxen. However, locomotives were not regularly used on the line until 1880. During the Maharaja's reign, a large narrow-gauge railway network was set, which extended to Becharaji and many other places in Baroda State, with Dabhoi as its focal point. The network is still the largest narrow-gauge railway network in the world.
In 1949, the Gaikwad Baroda State Railway was merged with the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway.

First run of BCT-NDLS Dunrunto on 18 th March

Finally , " ( Mumbai Central - New Delhi ) BCT- NDLS"  Duronto  Started , but at awkward time ( My Personal view ) , with Again BRC WAP-4 ( Well , i was expecting some three phase loco )  .

Here are shots of some memorable grand entry of first BCT - NDLS Duronto with BRC WAP-4 # 22560 at Vadodara Railway Station .






The challenge of retirement is how to spend time without spending money. 

BRC WAP-4 E # 22560 was on duty with 22209 . 


Incidentally or in a planned way , Many LP & ALP were gathered , before the arrival of the train , unknown to this matter , i was just maintaining the silence , When d train Entered & stopped , they Congratulated LP , for his last heroic & historical run . 


My Euphoria was on zenith , wen i thought how the WR appointed - LP sir retirement celebration & Duronto Start-up Celebration .....

All d best LP Sir & a millions tons thanks for igniting

Vadodara got his 1st three phase beauty

Ahh, Finally , Vadodara got his own three phase locomotive , after successfully handling GZB three phase nearly for a decade .

It happened on the month of November - 2011 , On  usual Sunday , i was at station to catch -Gujarat Exp  towards Ahmedabad [19011] , as i reached station ,while moving towards platform no-2 ,  i saw a white shining,pretty, appealing ,double stripped dead loco -written WAP-5 # 30045 ( with no shed marking )  , hailed by BRC WAM-4  with a train -Valsad - Viramgam Passenger (59049 ).



All of sudden , a vociferous  announcement echoed at my ears - that Gujarat express is late by 15 min ,

I peeped around the station , found empty station at noon ( especially RPF ) ,My smile betrayed my feeling , i exposed my small cam & took many pics .

As my inquisitiveness erupted & i interrogated some points with the ALP of the WAM-4 . 

Me;- Sir , Is this a new loco or POHed ??? 

ALP-  ( By pointing the disc brakes ) well dear , i don't know , but my experience says that this loco has POHed ? 

Me;-  Any idea !!!  Where it has been POHed ?? 

ALP-  ( Nodded his head ) - No . 

Me;-  Might be BSL ( Bhusaval ) , what do you say sir ? 

ALP- Might be . 

Me;-  Sir , are you sure , if it has been POHed , than , why there is no shed marking ? 

ALP- it must be installed by the loco shed . 

Me;-  so whose machine is this ? 

ALP- GZB ( Ghaziabad ) 

Me;-  ok .. 

I thought i was just introspecting  him too much ,like the loco has been stolen & he was hijacked to drive that one , I thanked him , take a pose on bench & just giving a stare to the white princess . 


I made several  phone calls to others rail-fans ,  narrating the same story , majority said It belongs to Ghaziabad .  





Finally , I decided to visit  Vadodara -ELS . 
I do not,  of course , have enough  gumption , to enter the Loco shed premises just  for a walk . But , yes , I am a marketing fellow , i have to promote & sell  my brand , my product - wielding consumables. 

I entered ELS ( Electric Loco Shed ) with a marketing motive & just a disciple of Indian Railway .Just met few officers with full zestfulness also give a idea that i love Indian Railway , the way you people move the train & trains moves us  is what makes Incredible India . 


I crossed my fingers may be Vadodara would get this beauty , but assertions were true that Ghaziabad locos  are doing well . But , after AC conversion from DC locos were required to serve the Western Railway region as WCAM-1 (VALSAD) is on verge of scrap .




Humbled , the officer said - its not a one man work , its a institution. 
Definitely sir , was my reply . 
With all due permission , i entered the IOH , campus , Three brownie WAGGIS ( WAG-5) of BRC , were on ICU , the cab has been  removed, each part , starts from Auxiliary motor  , traction motors , panto-graphs , blowers ,  transformer were separated  & sent to there respective home for maintenance.


Getting back to WAP-5 , i was anticipating 30045 , but as i entered the i saw 30045 &30044 .



The biggest stupefaction in my rail-fanning career , once again i had chat with many rail-fans , my balance of Rs 100 , was just vanished  deliriously within a couple of minutes . 

& what more - with BRC Written .....it was a  party time for all Western Railway rail-fans ...... I was on zenith of temptation, so , i clicked some pic .   

That day was my best day of my life .  Finally we got Three phase !!!!!





It took 5-6 days for Primary inspection , to take the charge from CLW,( Chittranjan Locomotove Works ) to BRC ELS , after that  , to felicitate by Western Railway ,BRC  WAP-5  has been named "GAURAV" ( seen below ) 



Now , the question must be bouncing at your mind , which is first  esteemed train , who kissed the white beauty .



Than hold your thought , It was - 59157 ( BRC-ANND PASS)   with only 5-6 coaches.

Finally , i conducted a series of inquiry , why not Shatabdi , Rajdhani, Gujarat Mail , & other super-fast trains , the cogent reply was - T-R-I-A-l.
